Sculptures of Children Reading, Playing and Relaxing in Nature
The Willow Readers Series was inspired by a willow sculpture community project in Birmingham, where Victoria Westaway willow artist worked with a local library. The outdoor sculpture was created for the Reading Garden within the library grounds. It proved a very popular subject, and inspired private collectors to request bespoke commissions of the piece. Now these restful figures take up residence in beautiful gardens exhibited across the country, from the rolling hills in the Heart of England to the Historical Vistas of the Jurassic Coast. Alongside the Reader series Victoria has created a series of playing Children and practicing Handstands. Victoria also makes groups of figures that depict families, such as the pieces created for the Momentum Gold Medal winning gardens at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Flower Show
